Time resolution and high-counting rate performance of plastic scintillation counter with multiple MPPC readout

We have been developing a plastic scintillation counter for the WASA detector. The performance of with Multi-Pixel Photon Counter (MPPC) readout has systematically investigated minimum ionizing particles in terms time resolution and signal amplitude stability. was evaluated under various incident conditions 2.5 GeV/c proton beams different MPPC settings. A scintillator size 550×38×8mm3 optically coupled multiple MPPCs at each plane 38×8mm2 detecting photons. observed ranges 37–80 ps (σ) depending on positions angles case three attached to end. found fairly consistent up counting rate 0.2 MHz.
